A blog posting on the Before&After design website presented readers to take on the challenge of redesigning a logo for the Ars Viva Symphony Orchestra. The current logo visually splits the themes of classical and contemporary among the first two words in the name using different type faces. This approach makes the logo seem disjointed and confused about it's own identity.
Using a similar idea for this logo submission, two type faces are split between the two lines for the entire name. 'ArsViva' set in one type face flows as one word and evokes a Classical feel. It also references the flow of a composer's pen or path of a condutor's baton. 'Symphony Orchestra' is created with a contempory but classic typeface that helps tie both themes together. This approach makes for a more cohesive logo and identity.
